Job Summary Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the position of QC Inspector and Coordinator reporting to the QA/QC Manager for all off site Subcontractors in the Gauteng Area. The position will be based at the at our supplier in Gauteng. Purpose of the role : • The QC Inspector and Coordinator will coordinate all inspection activities in and around the Gauteng area. He will also carry out inspections as and when is required by the QA/QC Manager. • The QC Inspector and Coordinator will ensure that all of the required documents, are kept up to date, are filed in an orderly faction and are kept in a safe environment. • The QC Inspector and Coordinator shall ensure that, Inspectors react to request for inspections, from the fabricators within the set time limits. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Within the limits of the project policies and procedures the Welding Inspector Coordinator has the responsibility and commensurate authority to accomplish the following duties: • Conceptually identify content and format of system outputs, workflows, procedures and integration requirements of company systems • Coordinate Inspectors on different sites • Adequately train capable personnel • Align personnel with departmental objectives • Ensure accurate input of engineering and operational data • Compile regular welding and progress status reports • Handover welding and inspection records in accordance with project program • Coordinate the QC office and staff as to enhance productivity and to eliminate unnecessary inspections and time constraints. • Ensure all inspections and requests are completed by capable inspectors/staff within the limited time frame of the project. • Closely liaise with the client and ensure a sound working relationship at all times. Key Requirements Suitable candidates must have the following work experience: • Two years satisfactory experience, in the fabrication of structural steel. • Have had satisfactory experience in coordination of inspections, inspectors and inspection personnel. • Knowledge of the following or equivalent codes of construction AWS D1.1 Structural steel. • Experience in the dimensional quality control checks, of boiler structural steel and associated platforms • Survey of structures and levels. • The ability to think up and implement innovative ways to solve / simplify complex and or repetitive problems. • Self motivation, computer literacy skills, effective interaction abilities, communication skills, problem solving skills, accuracy and methodical work ethics. • Ability to work independently, under pressure and focus on detail and procedures. Education Suitable candidates will possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: • 5 years satisfactory experience as a Level 2 inspector with a minimum of 2 years experience of structural steel.
